What is spray tanning? Answer: Spray tanning is a cosmetic process that uses a fine mist of tanning solution to give your skin a sun-kissed glow without UV exposure. The solution contains DHA (dihydroxyacetone), which interacts with the outer layer of the skin to create a natural-looking tan. 2. How long does a spray tan last? Answer: A spray tan typically lasts 7 to 10 days, depending on your skin type, aftercare, and how often you exfoliate. However, by follow your artist post care instructions and regular moisturizing can help extend the life of your tan to 10 to 14 days. 3. Is spray tanning safe? Answer: Yes, spray tanning is considered safe when performed correctly. The main active ingredient, DHA, is approved by the FDA for topical use. 4. How should I prepare for a spray tan? Answer: For best results, shave and exfoliate your skin 24-48 hours before your appointment, avoid moisturizing products, and wear loose-fitting clothing. It's also advisable to remove any makeup, deodorant, and perfume prior to your session. Can I shower after getting a spray tan? Answer: It’s best to wait at least 8 hours after your spray tan before showering to allow the color to develop fully. When you do shower, use lukewarm water and avoid scrubbing your skin. 6. What should I wear during the appointment? Answer: You can wear a swimsuit or underwear, or you can go nude if you're comfortable. Many clients opt for disposable undergarments provided by the technician. It is entirely up to your comfortability and your desired tan line results. 7. Will the tan look orange? Answer: A quality spray tan should not look orange. The color can vary based on the solution used and your skin type, so it’s important to choose a reputable service provider who can match the right formula for you. 8. Can I get a spray tan if I'm pregnant? Answer: While there is no evidence that spray tanning is harmful during pregnancy, it’s best to consult with your healthcare provider before proceeding. We ensure that the solutions used in our services are safe for you and your baby. 9. How do I maintain my spray tan? Answer: To maintain your tan, moisturize daily, avoid long hot showers, and refrain from using exfoliating products. Consider using a tan extender for added color. 10. What if I have sensitive skin? Answer: If you have sensitive skin, inform your technician before your appointment. They may recommend a specific solution designed for sensitive skin or perform a patch test to ensure compatibility. 11. What products are spray tan safe for aftercare? Answer: Make sure you use products that are free of alcohol and harsh fragrances. It is best to use nourishing and hydrating moisturizer with ingredients such as shea butter, coconut oil or aloe Vera. When picking a body wash make sure you’re looking for brands that are sulfate free, paraben free, and fragrance free. Best to look for sensitive skin type washes, dry skin because they will provide the most hydration for your skin to extend the tan and preserve the color. LOTION brand suggestions include: Hempz (my personal all time favorite), CeraVe (enjoy using for my face), Aveeno (Daily Moisturizing Fragrance Free), Vaseline, Native, Palmers (Coconut Oil Formula: Coconut Hydrate).
